Congressman Electted by the state of São Paulo
Graduated in Public Administration from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation and specializing in international trade from the University of California, Los Angeles, Walter Ihoshi was president and co-founder of the Shizen cosmetics industry and introducer of the Shiseido brand in Brazil.
In 2003, he assumed the vice presidency of the São Paulo Commercial Association, at the invitation of the then president of the São Paulo Commercial Association, Guilherme Afif Domingos, a position he currently occupies at the entity.
Political life
In 2005, Walter Ihoshi took over the Jabaquara Subprefecture, in the south of São Paulo. In 2006, he left office to run for elections.
First mandate
In 2007, Ihoshi began his first term as a federal deputy. It has obtained important achievements in the first four years, both for the state of São Paulo and for the Japanese-Brazilian community. He presented bills, reported relevant subjects, requested public hearings and was involved in important movements, such as the struggle for the end of the Provisional Contribution for Financial Movement (CPMF) and the approval of the Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI) in the Simples National regime, known as Supersimples. It helped more than 80 municipalities with parliamentary amendments, intended for health, education, infrastructure and tourism. Walter Ihoshi was also responsible for regulating the professions of hairdresser, barber, manicure, pedicure, beautician and epilator.
Ihoshi also celebrated the approval of the Positive Register in Brazil, and the signing of the Bilateral Social Security Agreement between Brazil and Japan, flags in which he fought tirelessly to leave the paper.
Mandate
In 2011, Ihoshi was sworn in to the second term. Since then, it has worked for the bureaucracy and tax exemption of Brazil. Walter Ihoshi defends projects that encourage the Brazilian productive sector, because it believes that the development of the country - coupled with education - is the best way to reduce social inequalities, as it generates strong economy, work and income and the population.
In 2013, Walter Ihoshi launched the parliamentary front for drug exemption, with the aim of reducing the tax burden on drugs in the country, which is the highest in the world. The front founded and presided by Ihoshi is, today, one of the largest in the history of the National Congress, and has the support of the entire Brazilian pharmaceutical sector and civil society.
Walter Ihoshi has also worked in favor of holy houses, hospitals and health centers. There were several parliamentary amendments intended for these entities for maintenance and acquisition of equipment to serve the population well.
In August 2013, the deputy saw his first bill approved by Congress. In October, PL 791/07 was sanctioned by the Presidency of the Republic and became law. Now Law No. 12,874 allows the consular authorities to celebrate the separation and consensual divorce of Brazilians resident abroad.
Defender of a developmental and self-sustaining Brazil, Walter Ihoshi is considered one of the most active parliamentarians in the country. Throughout its two terms it has presented projects that contribute to a modern, productive and competitive country. Walter Ihoshi brings in his actions transparency and commitment to the population.
Third mandate
In February 2015, he began his third term in the House of Representatives which will continue his work focused on the economic and social development of Brazil.
